The page lists information of EIS study (observing sequences) and several typical examples of EIS study under the new Hinode data-volume regime, and the information about operation restrictions and regular activities by EIS.
There are almost
290 stuies (including science & engineering task) available to EIS observation.
The details of each study such as line list, winodw size, exposure time etc. can be accessed online at
Hinode/EIS website (MSSL),
or alternatively using
EIS planning tool which is distributed with
Solarsoft.
Checking EIS planning tool
user guides here.
On Hinode/EIS website there two useful webpages especially:
This page lists
all studies created so far for EIS observation, and enables user to view deatils of each study. When planning your own observation with EIS, it is recommanded to choose those suitable studies from the list directly rather than to design your own studies (unless been instructed to do so by EIS team).
Warning: EIS studies with IDs below #240 should not be used under the new Hinode data-volume regime!
Tips: on this page user can click right-side button of each study to search the associated eis fits files (i.e. generated by that study) and have a quick look of thumbnails of the fits files. This may help user to choose the right study and check how the results (eg. intensity, velocity maps) obtained by the study probably like.
This page is a summary of EIS
as-run database. It shows how frequently and when a study was run by EIS. It would be useful when you'd like to search popular studies or simply check when/whether your study has been run.
Tips: user can view the summary based on different targets such as Active Region (
AR), Quiet Sun (
QS), etc, and user can sort the summary by
study ID or
running times.
EIS Daily Plan can be accessed from
DARTS website, which are kind of
text files listing EIS daily activities along
EIS Observing Timeline
EIS Weekly Observing Summary is kind of guidance of EIS science observation, decided by EIS team. EIS planner will make observing plan based on this guidance for the incoming week. It is very usful if you'd like to check whether your proposal is on the plan or when (roughly) your observation will be run by EIS. You can access EIS weekly observing summary here
This
Hinode Daily Events Page can let you check the previous DR allocation (data volume on board?) for EIS. This will give you a rough idea about EIS study data volume.
Examples of EIS studies under the low data-volume restriction:
- PRY_footpoints_lite (Study 000241)
Study 000241:
ACRONYM: PRY_footpoints_lite
This is a variation on the study PRY_footpoints_v2 designed for
periods when EIS has a *low data rate*. The study has a wide range of
lines and diagnostics and is suitable as a general purpose AR study.
TARGET: Active region
EXPOSURE TIME: 30s
SLOT: 2"
FOV: 100"x240"
ESTIMATED CADENCE: 28mins
DATE Volume: 53.38 Mbits
USAGE:
If the contacts allow a period of high data rate, please supplement
this study with PRY_footpoints_v2.
As a context raster, please use PRY_slot_context (duration: 3min).

- tr_bright_lo (Study 000251)
Study 000251:
ACRONYM: tr_bright_lo
20"x144" raster using 2" slit
Objective:
----------
To observe small scale QS brightenings (blinkers, explosive events,
nanoflares, bright points etc.)
Conditions Necessary to Run & Pointing:
---------------------------------------
A patch of QS near to disk centre
