Slot data has been widely used for context purposes. This pdf attachment discusses its potential use on plasma diagnostics. Through various examples and comparisons between slit and slot raster scans we try to understand whether the overlapping spectra that form the slot images on the detector can be deconvolved to extract line intensities, under some simple assumptions. The results indicate that slot data can indeed be used, at least as a first estimate, for plasma diagnostics: electron density (Fe XIII 203.8/202.0) and DEM analysis.

This is just an advertisement of the usefulness of the data. A paper/report with full details is under preparation and will be added here in due time.

The attachment is a poster contribution to the American Astronomical Society Solar Physics Division meeting held in Boulder, CO, USA, during the week June 15--19, 2009.
